In reply to Katelynn K.. I love riding the rails and even though the US has limited trains Amtrak still has some great train trips you could take - from NYC to LA! I saw that one on Sex and the City!

In reply to Tania. I totally agree. I love staying on the ground and travelling by train. It's comfortable, relaxing and gets me where I want to go! That would have been fun in the overnight train in SE Asia!

I just took my second overnight train in SE Asia and absolutely loved it! Comfortable, sustainable and such an adventure. Definitely a lot more interesting than just flying place to place.

In reply to Josy A. I am always tempted to take sleeper trains or buses when traveling but haven't yet. This breaks down the pro and cons of sleeper trains and makes them sound a lot less intimidating.

I was completely convinced to try a sleeper train after reading your pros, but then completely dissuaded after reading your cons haha. So very good writing. I’m sure I will take the plunge someday and try it out!

I wish we had more sleeper train options over here in the U.S. I’d love to get on a train and wake up in a new state with a new destination to explore.
I’ve always loved the rocking of the trains and even the loud sounds of the train so I think I’d sleep great on one of these. I wonder if some of them have lockers to lock your luggage or backpacks in while you sleep? Fear of my things getting stolen is what keeps me awake at airports.

We love train travel but generally have not done sleeper trains. So it was good to look at the pros and cons of overnight travel. We generally like train travel to enjoy the scenery so travelling at night makes us miss that. The one time we did travel by train overnight it was both bumpy and loud and not conducive to sleeping.
