Azerbaijan announces plans to launch a digital nomad visa in 2027/2028

by | Sep 12, 2026 | Digital Nomad Visas & Country Guides, News

Exciting news. Azerbaijan has announced plans to launch a digital nomad visa between 2027 and 2028.

This visa announcement comes after the Azerbaijan government’s approval of the 2026-2030 State Program for Tourism Development. And like all other digital nomad visas, the visa will allow remote workers to live in Azerbaijan for an extended period.

Great news however, there is still a wait before the visa is introduced sometime between 2027 and 2028. Why? It has been explained that authorities are dedicating time and resources to studying other digital nomad visa programs around the world. They are looking at what is working and what is not in other countries. We can only presume so they get it right for Azerbaijan. So details of the visa have not been released.

If you are wondering where Azerbaijan is. Azerbaijan is a former Soviet republic. It can be found next to Georgia (another popular digital nomad destination) and Armenia and it does share a border with Iran.

So stay tuned for more details. We will update you when we have them.

In the interim, if you are looking for your next digital nomad destination while waiting for Azerbaijan to introduce theirs, there are more than 60 countries offering some kind of digital nomad visa.
