If you have read posts on my website, you might have noticed the name ‘GetYourGuide‘ popping up. If you don’t know what it is, it’s about time that you do! So without further ado, let me introduce you to GetYourGuide and the benefits of buying travel tours and activities from it. You can thank me later!

For the record, this is not a sponsored post, but it does contain affiliate links to GetYourGuide. If you purchase from GetYourGuide links in this post, I will earn a small commission at no extra cost to you Read my full disclosure here.

What is GetYourGuide?

Before the internet, booking onto a tour or activity depended on the knowledge of your travel agent or the concierge at your hotel. Now, I would be very surprised if you have not used apps and websites to book flights, accommodation, car rides and loads of other things before. Pretty much everything can be bought online these days – as long as you have the appropriate website or app. GetYourGuide is an easy to use online booking engine for activities, attractions and tours. When I last checked, they listed over 35,000 activities in 7,440 destinations! There are detailed descriptions including pertinent information about the level of fitness required, tour inclusions and the cancellation policy. There are also reviews by tour participants to help you decide if the tour or attraction is for you. Overall, GetYourGuide is your link to having great experiences during your travels.

History of GetYourGuide

The ‘About Us’ page on the GetYourGuide website was founded by four classes Johannes, Tao, Martin, and Tobias in 2009. It was born from when one of the four arrived early on a trip to Beijing. Like I did once when I arrived in London, he arrived not knowing where to go or what to do. And as a result the idea for a platform that gathers activities across the world and puts them all in one place had its humble beginnings. The result is a place, where you can book activities, experiences, tours and entrance tickets into literally thousands of things to see and do around the world.

Services Offered by GetYourGuide

Here are some of the services offered on GetYourGuide.

  • Sightseeing tours
  • Nature and Adventure
  • Attraction Entrance Tickets
  • Local culture
  • Food and Drink options
  • Boat tours
  • Day trips
  • Transportation
  • City cards
  • Hop-on hop-off buses

How to Use GetYourGuide

To use GetYourGuide simply go to the website or download the app on your device. Once you have done this, type in the city you want to experience, your dates and see the wonderful experiences that pop up. For instance, I typed in Melbourne, Australia and there are plenty of options of places I can visit. Or you can search for specific activities by typing in a few letters, such as sailing tours of Greece. And then you can check the availability of the option before booking it through a secure booking system. With my booking confirmed, it means when I arrive at the venue, I can jump the payment que. You do not need to print anything out because it is safely kept on your device. Simply access it when you arrive to start your tour or activity.

Does GetYourGuide run the tours?

GetYourGuide is not a tour company, but is a platform that lists tour operators. They collect a commission when tours are sold. To find out who is the operator running the tour, scroll to the bottom of the list where it should be mentioned.
